Google Maps, but only your friends
Google Maps is great if you want to read reviews from 10,000 strangers. It's terrible when you land in a new city and just want to know where your friends actually went — their favorite bar, the coffee shop they kept talking about, the restaurant from that photo last month.
So we built Placee. Together with my good friend Sören Glaser-Gallion, we set out to build the app we wished existed: everyone in your circle posts the spots they've been to with a photo, a rating, and a quick note. Open it in a new city, you see pins from the people you follow — not random TripAdvisor noise.
SwiftUI on the client, Firebase for auth and data, geohashing for fast radius queries. MVVM architecture, Cloud Functions for feed propagation.
